The
two-thousand-year-old Roman town is coming to life again in result of
the actions taken by the staff of the Archaeological Site of Freixo.
This office is part of the IPPAR (Portuguese Institute for the
Architectonical Heritage), the institution responsible for the management
of the 50 hectares of this National Monument. The activity of this
office, Estação Arqueológica do Freixo, does not
confine itself
to the archaeological research. Another guideline of its activity is
the enhancement of the historical value of the village of Freixo and
of all the surrounding area.
